| “There are wounds that never show on the body that are deeper and more hurtful than anything that bleeds.” ― Laurell K. Hamilton, |
Today, when I am sitting before my laptop and drafting this article, my mind reflects before me the unspoken pain and countless cries which hundreds and thousands of my female population within India itself must have sustained by now or many would have crumbled to painful death out of the heinous crime committed by their own countrymen whom they either knew as their own uncle, brother, friend, teacher, father or someone else who them respected before the dooms day .........RAPE.....RAPE...RAPE!!
Friends!! Either we talk about "Nirvaya" Case or any of the multiple cases happening till date...we find that except some road campaigns ,candle light march, some protest before the houses of MPs/MLAs or getting a meagre compensation of Rs.20,000/- against becoming the rape victim is all what has been heard and granted in the name of justice.
Where is the Mass Awareness for the respect and social security of our female population?Where is the total boycott of those family whose member has committed this crime?Where is the hunger strike by the people of this country when a culprit is being sentenced for a 3 yrs jail only for being "Juvenile" or a culprit sentenced to life imprisonment only.
Can there be a right compensation for someone's life and dignity in terms of money??
Let me clarify this!! Had that little or teenager girl got an opportunity to grow with dignity in this world, what can be the maximum human output she could have derived from her entire span of 50-60yrs(minimum) in the form of a bright student who could be a doctor saving the lives of hundreds of patients, a scientist who could invent some life saving drug and could save the lives of million plus, a teacher who could spread the valuable importance of true knowledge,a business women who could create jobs for lacs of people worldover and thus reduce unemployability issues and thus many more.
Can you calculate the output in terms of financial and human involvement itself?
How can one dare to ruin someones life in the name of pleasure or self satisfaction?
I am shocked today when I saw that small kid of 6yrs age has been raped in the most reputed school of Bangalore and the school authority taking no charge of maintaining the life and security of the students within the campus.
Is this the real scenario prevailing within the temple of education which today has been commoditized through branding and investment like many of the products in the market which thinks of only making money rather adding positive value to the lives and security of the people using it.
What are our politicians doing except making loose comments like
"Rape happens from the young men who are immature and should not be given the death sentence".
" Mobile phones should be banned in schools and colleges as they spread immorality and rape cases".
" Short dresses should be banned from the society as this provokes males and lead to rape"
and many more allegations .
Majority of the cases belongs to those section of the society who are covered from top to bottom in saarees, salwar suits,in decent school dresses or smart office wear. That reflects the mindset of the society which has started treating women of respect like a commodity which can be used and thrown in the dustbin.Rape has widely swallowed the female population from 3yrs-80yrs as per the statistics which needs an immediate attention.
Enough of analysis, criticism and the drama of sympathies being soured upon for a limited period of time.!!
How can we stop this heinous crime from the society?
- Bane such movies/videos which projects women as somone who is weak, commoditized as glamorous dolls and surviving at the mercy of the men counterparts.
- Believe in the power of social media to spread the healthy message of cohesiveness rather than the "Hate Story" in parts.Females are wise co-workers,homemakers and relatives should be the positive talks around rather making it a gender Ego and a thing of hatrance.
- Let's condemn any such act in discussion over Social Media, newspaper articles,no-cooperation movements etc and not remain silent considering it as a "no family affair".India is our bigger family and our own small family is very much the part of this bigger family. As a result any problem which is affecting any one member might trouble us or our near and dear ones as well whom we proudly project today in society and over other platforms as "MINE".
Come forward and join this online campaign to spread this message to as many people you know....AND BREAK THIS SILENCE.
